From the 28th to the 29th of September 2023 the Second International Public-Private Partnership Conference took place in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
During the conference the Economic Scientific Research Institute (The ESRI) was represented by Leading Research Fellow of the Department of Quality Control and Planning Shukur Guliyev, Senior Research Fellow of the Department of Analysis of Economic Development Policy Elsever Latfili, Junior Research Fellow of the Department of Analysis of Digitalization, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Policy Vugar Abbasov and Junior Research Fellow of the Department of Analysis of Macroeconomic Policy Afraim Mammadov.
Chair of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov declared the conference open. The event touched on the history of Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the current level of this partnership, the impact of the development of PPP on the important economic sectors, its place in the infrastructure projects, assessment of the financial risks in PPP and the application of digital technologies in PPPs.
Leading Research Fellow of the Department of Quality Control and Planning Shukur Guliyev delivered a speech in the first session of the conference. In his remarks he dwelt on the development of PPP in Azerbaijan, the challenges lying ahead, prospects of PPP within the framework of reconstruction and development works in the liberated territories and the possible future works. S. Guliyev, also provided information on the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) Public-Private Partnership Forum expected to be organized by The ESRI, as well as on the draft of the book on PPP envisaged for publication by The ESRI.
Within the framework of the conference The ESRI representatives participated in the seminar of the UNECE titled Public-Private Partnership for the Sustainable Development Goals and shared their views.
At the end of the conference a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the PPP Centre of the Kyrgyz Republic and The ESRI was signed. Based on the MoU signed between the two entities policy based research and consultations in the field of PPP will be conducted in the future.
