The Economic Scientific Research Institute has a Scientific Council which reviews the main issues of scientific-practical activity and is entitled for an advisory role.

Organisation of the activity of the scientific council
The composition of the scientific council is approved by the minister of economy upon the presentation of the director of the Institute.
The staff of experts represented at the Scientific Council is made of the director of the Institute (Chair of the Council), deputy directors, scientific secretary (secretary of the council), heads of main structural units, leading scientists and scientific workers working in the structural units, prominent scholars and specialists employed by other scientific-research and educational institutions of the country, as well as those working in other administrative bodies.
The Scientific Council has the following duties:
- Discusses and approves the main directions of the scientific and practical activity of the Institute, scientific-research works, education programs and plans;
- Upon the presentation of the chair of the Scientific Council the Council hears and discusses the reports of the heads of scientific-research units, heads on different topics (projects) and the reports developed by the responsible executors on the progress and the results of scientific-research works and issues relevant proposals and recommendations;
- Discusses and makes relevant decisions on the cooperation and coordination issues to be established with other scientific-economic departments;
- Discusses scientific papers and makes decisions on the expediency of their publication;
- Adopts decisions on publishing the compilation of scientific publications, scientific-practical journals, analytical-information bulletins and other print products of the Institute, as well as decides on holding of scientific-practical conferences, consultations, seminars, round tables and other similar scientific gatherings;
- Discusses issues on the development of scientific personnel and their professional development, approves the dissertation topics, plans and scientific advisers of PhD candidates, engages in the initial discussion of dissertation works which are ready;
- Discusses dissertation and other scientific-research works and issues respective opinion, develops proposals and raises petitions for the issuance of scientific degrees and titles and establishment of respective dissertation councils.
