On October 7, 2022, ESRI staff held a meeting with Piotr Sieniavski, the coordinator for Eastern Europe of the Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies (IES).
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ESRI, Mahir Humbatov, informed the guest about the activities, the new organizational-administrative structure, scientific achievements, and plans of the Institute, as well as the reforms carried out in these directions. In addition, he brought to the attention of the guest that one of the priority issues in the ESRI's action plan is to increase the role of the Institute in the implementation of the "Socio-economic development strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022-2026". Furthermore, the Chairman emphasized the transformation of the Institute into a well-known think tank in the republic, as well as on a global scale, the implementation of innovations in the fields of education, research and analysis within the Institute, regular communication and mutual cooperation with the most prestigious international organizations, think tanks and educational institutions, and the necessity to conduct expert exchange within the framework of this cooperation.
In his turn, Mr. Sieniavski touched upon the activities of the IES, their achievements, the advantages of the International Economic Forum organized by his Institute, the role of Azerbaijan in the energy security of Europe, the location of Azerbaijan on the main transport corridors for Europe, and Azerbaijani-Polish social, economic and commercial relations. Furthermore, he responded to the questions of the ESRI employees Natig Madatov, Shukur Guliyev, Elsevar Latifli and Shahla Babayeva on these issues.
In his further speech, Mr. Sieniavski mentioned the issues of mutual interest for cooperation between the IES and the ESRI, and proposed to invite representatives of the ESRI to the next 32nd International Economic Forum to be organized next year by IES in Karpacz, Poland.
During the meeting, Mr. Sieniavski stated that IES has a positive attitude to cooperation with the ESRI and that this cooperation will contribute to the development of science and education, policymaking, analytical and strategic analysis and other areas of both countries.
