The next meeting of the subgroup “on the improvement of international rankings (H index) in international publications” of the working group on Technology and Innovations of the Commission on Business Climate and International Rankings of the Republic of Azerbaijan took place on August 29th, 2022.

The meeting was attended by the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Economic Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Education, Intellectual Property Agency, National Academy of Sciences, ADA University, UNEC, Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University and a number of other experts. 

The goal of the meeting was to ensure unified and coordinated implementation of measures on the improvement of international ranking indicators in respect to scientific publications. General discussions were made and the existing situation was assessed in order to ensure operative implementation of measures. Also, initial discussions took place on the development of a concept document on medium and long term measures on the improvement of international ranking indicators (H index) in respect to scientific publications. 

Deputy chair of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations  under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Salmanov made introductory remarks and then the head of the secretariat of the Commission on Business Climate and International Rankings Vusal Shikhaliyev took the floor. In his speech he extended his congratulations to the representatives of the subgroup who had been promoted and expressed his views on the work of the subgroup. Head of the subgroup, director of the E-Gov Development Center, Fariz Jafarov provided information on the implementation of “The road map for 2022 on the improvement of the international ranking indicators in respect to the scientific publications”. Founder of “OpenED Network”, expert Bulent Tarma, made a presentation on the topic “Improvement of ranking indicators of international scientific publications in Azerbaijan: lessons learnt from other countries”.

Then, representatives of the Ministry of Science and Education provided information on the work done on the road Map. During the meeting the implementing agencies provided information on the works implemented on the respective items of 2022 Action Plan of the subgroup on the improvement of international ranking indicators (H index) with respect to scientific publications of the “Technology and Innovations” group. 

In the end, head of the department of Innovations in the Education of the Education Institute Abutab Abbasova made a presentation of “www.tehsilim.edu.az” portal of the Ministry of Science and Education.
