The ECO member states’ representatives attended the event in person or online which lasted for 4 days. During the visit the ESRI representatives were part of the delegation led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In general, the meetings held within this framework were attended in person by representatives of the ESRI, the MFA, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the National Assembly, and the State Tourism Agency. The ESRI representatives represented both Azerbaijan and the ESRI during Economic Research and Statistics meeting held on January 19th, 2023. During the meeting, the activities on the ECO Economic Journal, the ECO Research Centre and international events were highlighted and the main report was delivered in the form of presentations.
In line with the time limit and the agreement of the chair of the meeting, Natig Madatov provided detailed information to the representatives of the member states attending the meeting. During the presentation, information about the history of the establishment of the ECO Research Centre, the activities implemented in this direction, as well as the current situation in respect to ECO Economic Journal, shortcomings, their ways of resolution, goals and the new concept of the journal was provided. Also, the aforementioned topic was included in the agenda of the communique of the 26th meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers held in Tashkent.
In the course of the discussions the intention of Azerbaijan to host the 3rd ECO Think Tanks Forums during its ECO chairmanship was voiced and this was agreed with the representatives of the member states. The forum will be organized by the ESRI on behalf of Azerbaijan and is assumed to take place in the 4th quarter of 2023.
